Craft beer, drag queens used to boost Ohio LGBTQ turnout

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) | A nonpartisan coalition seeking to boost turnout among Ohio’s LGBTQ voters in 2020 is launching a campaign that pairs voter registration with drag queens and craft beer.

Craft the Vote kicked off Thursday at Land-Grant Brewing Company. Similar events will follow at craft breweries around the state.

Judge extends Florida’s voter registration to Oct. 18

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) — A federal judge extended voter registration until Oct. 18 in the battleground state of Florida Oct. 12, due to the disruption and damage from Hurricane Matthew.

During a hearing, U.S. District Judge Mark Walker agreed to extend the deadline for six more days. He had already extended the Oct. 11 deadline one day, after the Florida Democratic Party filed a lawsuit last weekend, following the hurricane’s brush with Florida’s east coast.

We’ll hold back on the locker-room banter motif that defined a weekend that was likely to be blown away by mass destruction via Hurricane Matthew. What’s more important, especially after watching last night’s debate between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump, is that you are engaged in a manner that can make a difference.

Following a request by the Clinton campaign to extend voter registration in order to make up for days lost at home during a natural disaster, our favorite (not favorite) Gov. Rick Scott has refused said extension. Wonder why? Google “Voter Suppression.”
