‘Special’ to return to Netflix for second season

Fans of the short-form Netflix comedy “Special” have an extra reason to rejoice this holiday season – the Emmy-nominated series has been renewed for a second season.

Starring and written by Ryan O’Connell, the semi-autobiographical series, which lists Jim Parsons alongside O’Connell as an executive producer, has gotten the green light for an additional season of eight episodes, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

NEW YORK (AP) | Actress Jessica Hecht, best known to the world for her supporting roles in “Friends” and “Breaking Bad,” was riding the subway in New York and someone was staring at her.

So she asked, “What am I doing that’s making you upset?” His reply: “Excuse me, you’re my hero on that show.”

Netflix’s latest series “Special” depicts the life of a gay man living with cerebral palsy. The series is adapted from Ryan O’Connell’s book, “I’m Special: And Other Lies We Tell Ourselves,” and will be produced by “Big Bang Theory” star Jim Parsons.

O’Connell, who is a gay man with mild cerebral palsy in real life, will also be starring as the show’s protagonist, Ryan who struggles to accept his disability.

Jim Parsons is tackling a new television venture on the heels of the end of the hit sitcom “The Big Bang Theory.”

Parsons’ production company That’s Wonderful Productions will produce “Special,” a new comedy series for Netflix based on Ryan O’Connell’s memoir and manifesto “I’m Special: And Other Lies We Tell Ourselves.”
