People braved the oncoming afternoon thunderstorms to get to Orlando City Hall Rotunda June 10 to applaud the recipients of The 49 Fund scholarships.

Launched by Orlando activist, and President and CEO of The Closing Agent, Barry Miller, eight Orlando-area high schoolers were awarded $4,900 toward their higher education.

Chris Rudisill stepping down at METRO Tampa Bay

METRO Tampa Bay announced Nov. 23 that after more than three years with the organization, Chris Rudisill will be stepping down as the Director of LGBT Community Center Services, according to a press release.

Rudisill is credited as being an essential part of expanding METRO’s list of programs, as well as establishing the LGBT Welcome Center.

ACLU files marriage equality lawsuits

The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) is filing lawsuits in three states in an effort to secure marriage equality.

They’ve filed suit in Pennsylvania, legal action planned for North Carolina and Virginia, as well.
