Chicago gun shop owner calls off raffle of AR-15 rifle for Pulse victims

MCHENRY, Ill. (AP) – A suburban Chicago gun shop has canceled a raffle of a semi-automatic rifle to benefit victims of the Pulse shooting.

The Chicago Tribune reports Second Amendment Sports in McHenry, Illinois, called off the raffle following questions about whether it would be legal. Under Illinois law, only nonprofit groups may hold raffles.

Aardman Studios – the brilliant clay animation artists behind the veddy British animated comedies Chicken Run and Wallace and Gromit – are back!

For a while there, they were speeding up, cleaning up, and saving money by supplementing their clay work with computer animation. That process robbed their recent films of some DIY charm. Shaun the Sheep is a welcomed throwback to their roots, where you can still see the thumbprints in the clay.

After anti-gay controversy, Indiana’s Memories Pizza reopens

WALKERTON, Ind. (AP) — A northern Indiana pizzeria that closed after its owner said his religious beliefs wouldn’t allow him to cater a gay wedding opened April 9 to a full house of friends, regulars and people wanting to show their support.

“It’s a relief to get going again and try to get back to normal,” said Kevin O’Connor, owner of Memories Pizza.

Alabama recalls NOHOMO vanity plate

Montgomery, Ala. (AP) _ A personalized license plate with a gay slur slipped past a review panel in Alabama, and the state said it’s recalling the tag, which showed up in social media on photos of a black Mustang.

The license plate has the saying “NOHOMO,” a slang phrase used when the speaker does not want to appear gay. The state prohibits personalized tags with profane or vulgar messages, Alabama Department of Revenue spokeswoman Amanda Collier said.

Rick Welts, president and COO of the Golden State Warriors Basketball Club, has been out for years, and is just one of several owners of the yet-to-be-named team.
