‘Hadestown,’ ‘Hamilton,’ ‘Wicked’ and more featured in Straz’s 2020-2021 season

TAMPA | The Straz Center for the Performing Arts announced its 2020-2021 Broadway season Feb. 7, detailing  a wide array of new and returning fan favorite productions.

“We have a tremendous season ahead, truly a remarkable line-up of fantastic shows,” Straz Center President and CEO Judy Lisi said in a statement. “When we say the best of Broadway, we mean it.”

Morgan Unger and the cast of ‘Escape to Margaritaville’ bring Jimmy Buffett fun to Dr. Phillips Center

We may be heading into the holiday season, but this week it is all tropical getaways and beach weather at the Dr. Phillips Center in Orlando as the Fairwinds Broadway series presents “Escape to Margaritaville,” the Broadway musical based on the songs of Jimmy Buffett.

“Escape to Margaritaville” was first performed in San Diego in 2017 and is based on a book by Greg Garcia and Mike O’Malley. The show played in New Orleans, Houton and Chicago before making its Broadway stage debut in Feb. 2018.

‘Aladdin,’ ‘Les Miserables,’ more coming to Dr. Phillips Center

ORLANDO| The Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts announced their upcoming FAIRWINDS Broadway series for the 2019/2020 season in a press release Feb. 15.

Audience members can discover a whole new world this season with the musical “Aladdin.”  The Disney original is making a comeback with fan favorite songs, as well as new music. The season will also feature the Tony award-winning “My Fair Lady” and “A Bronx Tale” starring Richard H. Blake, known for his role as Tommy Devito in the “Jersey Boys” musical.

Dr. Phillips’ full 2019/2020 season line-up will include “Escape to Margaritaville,” “The Play That Goes Wrong,” “Aladdin,” “Mean Girls,” “Miss Saigon,” “A Bronx Tale” and “My Fair Lady.” Kicking off the season will be Tony award-winning  “Les Miserables,” available as a season option. According to their website, “these eight wildly popular shows will bring the best of Broadway to Walt Disney Theater.” Detailed information can be found below.
