Classical singer Jackie Evancho talks about love of music, movies and her transgender sister

Singer Jackie Evancho may be just shy of her 19th birthday but she’s already had enough of a performance career to last a lifetime. A young woman with a soaring operatic range, Evancho began participating in talent competitions when she was still in the single digits.

Evancho’s big break and greatest exposure came when she placed second during season five of NBC’s hit reality competition show, “America’s Got Talent.” From there Evancho became a popular classical crossover artist, releasing EPs and full-length albums, including 2017’s “Two Hearts” and the upcoming “The Debut,” out in April 2019.

Watermark’s Wedding Bells: Mark & Ricky Celaya-Renaud

“I proposed to Mark – we are both Eagle Scouts and have a shared affinity for the outdoors and nature, so I planned out a camping trip to the Florida Caverns State Park,” Ricky Celaya-Renaud shares. “We did a flashlight tour of the main caverns, and at the last possible chance before leaving the cave, I gathered my courage, got down on one knee and asked him to marry me.”

“Ricky decided to sign us up for a cave tour in the woods – I’m terrified of bats, by the way – where he decided to ask me to marry him at the very end,” Mark Celaya-Renaud adds. “At that point, I would’ve done anything to get out of that cave! Luckily, I didn’t have to do anything I didn’t already want to, so not only did I get to get out of the home of winged-monsters, but I came out of it engaged to the love of my life.”Ricky, a property manager and native of St. Petersburg, currently lives with his husband Mark, a senior analyst and transplant from Granada Hills, Calif., in Tampa.

Gay high school student asks straight football captain to homecoming

High school students Alexander Duarte and Erick Pineda have gone viral for a sweet homecoming proposal in honor of National Coming Out Day.

On Oct. 11, Duarte, a high school senior at Valley High School in Santa Ana, Calif., asked his straight friend Pineda, who is captain of the football team, to be his homecoming date.
