Montana transgender-restroom initiative attempt falls short

BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) – An attempt to let Montana voters decide whether to prohibit transgender people from using the restrooms and locker rooms of their choice has come up short.

Supporters of the “Montana Locker Room Privacy Act” got fewer than 10,000 of the more than 25,000 signatures needed to qualify for the November ballot.

Montana city rejects non-discrimination ordinance

BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) – The Billings City Council has rejected an ordinance to ban discrimination based on a person’s sexual orientation or gender identity.

The Billings Gazette reports the council’s decision came early Aug. 12, with Mayor Tom Hanel casting the deciding vote.
