What a remarkable year 2019 has been for the LGBTQ communities in Central Florida and Tampa Bay.

Whether it was in the field of politics, philanthropy, activism, entertainment or pageantry; there was no shortage of remarkable people for us to choose for Watermark’s annual list of the Most Remarkable People in Central Florida and Tampa Bay.

In honor of the year 2019, we choose 19 people across our readership area who were breaking records and blazing trails for the LGBTQ community. Once we selected our 19 Remarkables, we asked members of the community work know, work and admire each of them to write why they thought they were remarkable.

Alex Jones, ProjectAlchemy Artistic Director

As Artistic Director of ProjectAlchemy Dance and the resident choreographer at the Studio@620 in downtown St. Petersburg, Alex applies his passion for dance as a tool for education and advocacy.

His mission is to challenge the current connotation of dance and make all genres of dance more accessible in Tampa Bay. He founded ProjectAlchemy at the end of 2018 with a premiere performance of his one-man show, Voices, a multidisciplinary dance piece about his experiences he represents as a Queer, Black man.

Facebook bans Milo Yiannopoulos, Alex Jones and other far-right extremists

Facebook has banned some prominent far-right extremists including Alex Jones, Milo Yiannopoulos, Laura Loomer, Louis Farrakhan, Pete Nehlen, Paul Joseph Watson and others for being “dangerous” and violating the company’s policies on hate speech and violence, the company announced on Thursday. The ban includes Instagram which is owned by Facebook.

Jones, Yiannopoulos, Watson, Loomer, Nehlen, and Farrakhan have all had their personal accounts removed as well as fan pages and groups affiliated with them. Jones’ website Info Wars has also been banned. Any user or group that shares InfoWars content will have the content removed. After multiple violations, the account posting the content will be banned.

Twitter permanently bans anti-LGBTQ conspiracy theorist Alex Jones, Infowars

NEW YORK (AP) | Twitter permanently banned right-wing conspiracy theorist Alex Jones and his Infowars show for abusive behavior, a day after CEO Jack Dorsey testified before Congress about alleged bias against conservatives on the platform.

The company said Jones won’t be able to create new accounts on Twitter or take over any existing ones. In a tweet, it said it would continue to monitor reports about other accounts potentially associated with Jones or Infowars, and will “take action” if it finds any attempts to circumvent the ban.
