LGBTQ Voting Rally on Sunday! It’s your last chance to be early!

We are aware of the symptoms of exhaustion. We, likewise, have the vapors and the terrors in equal measure as Nov. 8 approaches. What if it all goes wrong? What if we’re all ruined by a megalomaniac whose interests lie solely in his swish of hair and swap of values, his latest wife and latest strife.

It’s not OK. We’ve done almost as much as we can to encourage your suffrage, but, just in case, there is a souls-to-the-polls-style voting rally happening this weekend, and we thought you should know about it.

The danger, here, is real, of course. Donald Trump and Mike Pence are embracing bigotry like it is a glorious panda bear. And that’s just at the top of the ticket. All the way down, you’ll find failures who have no interest in your well being, wigs that need replacing and serious issues that need to be addressed. Trickle-down economics are in fact just that: a trickle.

“Almost five months after Pulse, our LGBTQ community and its allies are STRONGER and UNITED more than ever before, and we now have the chance to make the biggest impact that has ever been made before in one of the most pivotal elections in history,” Alex Hancock of the Pride Fund to End Gun Violence says. “Our community has united to heal, but still remain strong and actionable and that for me has been the most inspiring act of courage I’ve ever seen in my lifetime. Over the last nine months, even before Pulse, I decided to leave my corporate job and search for my purpose in life and understand how I can make in impact in someone else’s. Pulse has been part of that inspiration if not the main driver of keeping me going everyday. I have volunteered full time openly and freely across multiple organizations in Pride Fund to End Gun Violence, the Florida Democratic Party and Hillary for America and I ask all of you to come out this Sunday to rally together with our community to make your voice be heard and let our voice make history.”

And he’s not alone in his strength.

The Republican party’s platform is the most regressive one in modern history, and includes recommendations for conversion therapy for LGBTQ individuals,” says Jason Lindsay, Executive Director of Pride Fund to End Gun Violence, which is part of the event. “We cannot let decades of our community’s work be erased overnight. In what is likely the most important election of our lifetime, it’s imperative that our community get out the vote on November 8 to support candidates who advocate for LGBTQ rights and common sense gun reform on the national, state and local level.”

So might we encourage you to attend this event on Sunday in support of LGBTQ voting interests, especially if you are disillusioned by this voting cycle. We have some wonderful people in our corner, but they’re going to need the numbers to get the deeds done.

Guess what: You’re the numbers. See you on Sunday.
