Philadelphia man admits to murder of transgender woman

Philadelphia (AP) – A Philadelphia man has admitted to the stabbing death of a transgender person last year and will spend 22 to 44 years in prison.

WPVI-TV reports that 32-year-old Raheam Felton pleaded guilty June 14 to third-degree murder and possessing an instrument of crime. He apologized for his crimes.

Police say the victim, 21-year-old London Kiki Chanel, wasn’t targeted for being transgender. They say Felton acknowledged he stabbed Chanel during a domestic dispute May 18, 2015.

At a hearing last year, a witness testified that Chanel accused Felton of sexual touching before Felton attacked Chanel and screamed: “This is what we do to a snitch.”

Chanel was also known as London Banks.
