Dining Out For Life returns with more than 30 restaurants

Dining Out For Life

Empath Health is back with Dining Out For Life, an HIV/AIDS fundraiser event, with more than 30 restaurants participating throughout the day May 19.

“We have restaurants in St. Petersburg, Dunedin and Gulfport involved,” says Kathy Rabon, Executive Director of the Suncoast Hospice Foundation. “Some will be participating for breakfast and lunch, some for lunch and dinner, some will be doing it every meal so you can help and get involved all day.”

Dining Out For Life is carried out across the United States and Canada at more than 3,000 restaurants, each of which donates a portion of sales to a local AIDS organization. The funds raised via Tampa Bay Dining Out For Life will benefit the AIDS Service Association of Pinellas.

“While most of the restaurants donate 25 percent of the proceeds from the participating meal, some places are actually giving more. The Frog Pond in St. Pete Beach is donating 50 percent and the one in Redington Beach is giving 100 percent of breakfast and lunch to Dining Out,” Rabon says.

Each year Dining Out For Life estimates that it serves 300,000 people and raises over $4 million for the 60 HIV/AIDS organizations involved.

“This is one of my favorite events each year,” Rabon says. “The entire community gets involved and has a great time all for a good cause.”
