BREAKING!: Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal vetoes pro-discrimination bill amid national pressure

Gov.-Nathan-DealWhoa! What a Monday morning surprise. Following North Carolina’s egregious abuse of the Constitution in killing home rule and allowing LGBT and wage discrimination across the board, because bathrooms, embattled Georgia Governor Nathan Deal, R-Natch, has decided to keep the Walking Dead and sundry other moneymakers in the Georgia peaches by bucking against his party and listening to an angry entertainment industry. According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution:

The measure “doesn’t reflect the character of our state or the character of its people,” the governor said Monday in prepared remarks. He said state legislators should leave freedom of religion and freedom of speech to the U.S. Constitution.

“Their efforts to purge this bill of any possibility that it would allow or encourage discrimination illustrates how difficult it is to legislate something that is best left to the broad protections of the First Amendment,” he said.

Thanks to everyone who leaned in on this one. This story is breaking. We will update as necessary.
