Lady Gaga takes on sexual assault in new song

Lady Gaga released her new song, “Til It Happens to You,” Sept. 18 with an accompanying video directed by Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke.

The video and song, which Gaga co-wrote with Oscar-winning songwriter Diane Warren, shines a light on sexual assaults on college campuses.

“Diane Warren and I made ‘Til It Happens To You’ for people all over the world who suffer from painful life experiences,” Gaga posted to Twitter. “We hope you feel our love and solidarity through the song and perhaps find some peace in knowing you are not alone through this film.”

Proceeds from sales of the song will benefit survivors of sexual assault.

Gaga is currently working on her fifth studio album with a release sometime in 2016. No word whether “Til It Happens to You” will appear on the album.

Gaga can also be seen this fall in the new season of American Horror Story: Hotel on FX starting Oct. 7.
