Tom Hardy shuts down reporter after asked about his sexuality

Tom Hardy and a reporter shared an awkward moment at the Toronto International Film Festival Sept. 12.

Hardy was promoting his new film Legend, where the British hunk plays both Ronnie and Reggie Kray. The Kray twins, one of whom is bisexual in the film, were notorious London gangsters.

A journalist from the Daily Xtra, a Toronto LGBT website, asked Hardy if he thought it was difficult for celebrities to publicly discuss their sexuality.

“In the film, your character Ronnie is very open about his sexuality but given interviews you’ve done in the past, your own sexuality seems a bit more ambiguous,” Daily Xtra reporter Graeme Coleman asked Hardy. “Do you find it hard for celebrities to talk to media about their sexuality?”

Hardy responded with a confused, “What on earth are you on about?”

Hardy and Coleman had a back-and-forth with the actor finally saying “Are you asking about my sexuality?”

“Sure,” Coleman responded. Hardy replied back “Why?”

The awkward exchange was caught on video and starts at 28:20.
