Wayne Brady gets ready to model some Kinky Boots

Starting in November, Orlando’s Wayne Brady replaces Billy Porter, donning the kinkiest boots on Broadway when he takes over as “Lola” on Broadway’s Kinky Boots.

Wayne Brady attended school in Orlando and performed at SAK Improv theater. He gained notable fame when he appeared on the U.S. version of Whose Line is Anyway?

Kinky Boots the musical is based on the 2005 film. The musical, written by Harvey Fierstein with music by Cyndi Lauper, tells the story of Charlie, who is inherits an old show factory after the death of his father. Charlie meets Lola, a drag entertainer with a lot of heart and big heels to fill. They work together to try to save the struggling company.

If you’re not able to catch Billy Porter before he leaves the role or Wayne Brady when he takes over, the touring production of Kinky Boots the musical will arrive in Tampa Dec. 1 – 6 and in Orlando, Feb. 23 – 28.
