Tampa – Deandre Tolliver was sentenced to life in prison for the murder of well-known Hamburger Mary’s drag performer Anthony Lee at the Hillsborough County Circuit Court July 22.
Tolliver chose not to speak after Judge Kimberly Fernandez delivered the sentence.
A jury found Tolliver, 26, guilty of first-degree murder, robbery with a firearm and armed burglary of a dwelling with assault July 17 after deliberating for only five hours.
Lee, who went by the name South Beach Wanda when he performed, was shot and killed in May 2013 while visiting a friend who was ill.
No physical evidence was found that put Tolliver at the scene of the crime, but a jailhouse bunkmate said Tolliver admitted to the crime. The gun was never recovered.
Lee was 23 at the time of the murder.
