The Girl Scouts are not playing around (the trans issue)

While we all stand in a circle and laugh at the hate-tears that noted purveyor of prejudice John Stemberger, head of Florida Family Policy Council, a hate group, is crying into his Boy Scout uniform, let’s raise a glass to the Girl Scouts.

Given the chance to accept $100,000 to keep up their good deeds and cookies, the org balked at the donor, according to the Advocate. Why? Because the donors didn’t want any trans folk getting the money.

Council CEO Megan Ferland told the newspaper [the Seattle Met] her decision wasn’t hard after that, though she was “very sad” to see discrimination possibly deny her troop resources. She wrote a note back to the donor, who she was careful not to name, saying she would not be accepting their money.

“Girl Scouts is for every girl,” she said of her decision. “And every girl should have the opportunity to be a Girl Scout if she wants to.”

Amen.
