Lake Buena Vista, Fla. – The Zebra Coalition and the Orlando International Fringe Festival were both presented with a grant from Walt Disney World Resorts allowing them to continue to positively affect families and children in Orlando.

They gavea total of $4.5 million worth of grants to 102 organizations in Central Florida at a ceremony held at the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts on March 30.

“Today’s Disney Grant recipients work tirelessly to build a better future for Central Florida and share Disney’s values of investing in children and families,” President of Walt Disney World Resort George A. Kalogridissaid in a press release.

The grants are awarded to local organizations that help build the community’scharacter, creativity and promote economic development throughout Orange, Osceola, Seminole, Lake and Polk counties. The Zebra Foundation for Youth, which funds Zebra Coalition, received $20,000, and Orlando Fringe received $5,000.

“Support from Walt Disney World Resort allows the Zebra Coalition to provide hands on activities and workshops to youth in our community that supports self-development and self-improvement while creatively exploring and understanding others,” Zebra Coalition Director Dexter Foxworth said in a press release.

The funding received by the Disney Grants will help Zebra Coalition provide programming that will foster LGBT+ youth in achieving academic success, reducing high-risk behavior, and providing a safe environment for youth to live and work in on a daily basis.

Orlando Fringe Executive Director George Wallace said Orlando Fringe plans on using the received funds for general operating of the event.
