Presidential hopeful says being gay is a choice

Presidential hopeful Dr. Ben Carson took to Facebook to apologize after saying being gay is choice.

In an interview on March 4 with CNN’s Chris Cuomo, Cuomo asked Carson if he believed that being gay was a choice. Carson replied, “Absolutely.”

During his interview with CNN, Carson used prison as evidence where being gay is a choice.

“Because a lot of people who go into prison go into prison straight — and when they come out, they’re gay.” Carson said. “So, did something happen while they were in there? Ask yourself that question.”

Carson later posted to Facebook to that apologize:

“In a recent interview on CNN, I realized my choice of language does not reflect fully my heart on gay issues. I do not pretend to know hot every individual came to their sexual orientation. I regret that my words to express that concept were hurtful and divisive. For that I apologize unreservedly to all that were offended.”

Some of our brightest minds have looked at this debate, and up until this point there have been no definitive studies that people are born into a specific sexuality.”

The American Psychological Association and other medial groups have determined that being gay is not a choice.

Carson recently launched a 2016 presidential exploratory committee, which is his clearest indication on his intentions for a White House bid.
