Equality Florida launches TransAction Florida

Equality Florida announced its launch of TransAction Florida, a statewide initiative to educate, increase awareness and promote visibility of the transgender community.

The announcement comes at the same time of the introduction of a statewide bill that would add gender identity and expression protection to current discrimination policies across the state.

“This is an important moment for the transgender community, one that has been too often the silent T in the LGBT movement,” Gina Duncan, Equality Florida’s Transgender Inclusion Director, said in a press release. “This project reflects Equality Florida’s longstanding commitment to trans inclusion, and it recognizes the need for visible trans leadership at the forefront of this work.”

TransAction Florida grew out of Equality Florida’s partnership with a Tampa Bay-based organization founded by Michael Keeffe called FORGE.

Below is the list of the TransAction Florida Advisory Board, all who are influential members in the transgender community across Florida and will work in the upcoming year in growing the organization and awareness of the transgender community:
