Los Angeles – The advocacy group for the adult film industry has placed a moratorium on filming – the second in the last month – after another performer tested positive for HIV.
The Free Speech Coalition’s action on Sept. 6 came more than two weeks after it called for a work ban when a woman, who worked under the name Cameron Bay, received a positive test.
The ban was lifted about a week later when all performers who worked with her were medically cleared.
The coalition didn’t identify the performer whose case prompted the latest moratorium, but said it didn’t believe that person was infected on a film set.
“While we don’t have evidence to suggest an on set transmission as opposed to a transmission from non-industry (off-camera) related activity, we are taking every measure to determine the source and to protect the performer pool,” the coalition said in a statement.
An actor, who goes by the name Rod Daily, wrote on his Twitter account that he contracted HIV in the past month.
The chief executive of San Francisco adult film company Kink Studios told the San Francisco Chronicle that Daily and Bay are in an off-screen relationship.
Peter Ancworth said Daily, who performed mostly in gay scenes, was leaving the porn industry.
