Boys in the Band to benefit St. Pete Pride

The West Coast Players will present Boys in the Band on three dates in June as a way to raise money for the St. Pete Pride Community Grants Program. The restaged show coincides with the 45th anniversary of the off-Broadway hit, written by Mart Crowley.

Boys in the Band is set in the late 1960s, a time when gays were seldom seen in mass media except for as stereotypes. The play tells the story of a group of friends dealing with aging, relationships, sexuality and family.

A special performance is scheduled for 8 p.m. Thursday, June 20, and proceeds from ticket sales go directly to Pride’s Community Grants program. Tickets are $30 and can be purchased at StPetePride.com or at WCPlayers.org.
