Fighting The Good Fight
Earlier this week, One Million Moms launched a campaign against the 23rd Annual Gay Day at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom, scheduled for Saturday, June 1.  On its website, One Million Moms claims that the intent of the LGBT community is “to expose and desensitize children to this lifestyle by same-sex couples holding hands, hugging and kissing.” The group urges its members to e-mail Disney officials and demand the park to ‘no longer go along with Gay Day.’  In response, Darcy Christ, a heterosexual mom in Texas has waged an online battle against One Million Moms and the group’s boycott of Gay Day at Disney. She has created ‘Millions of Moms for Love’ on Facebook and hopes to receive as many “likes” as possible to prove anti-gay beliefs are not shared by most moms in America. OutLoud Enterprises has also set-up a website has also been set up that allows supporters of Gay Day to send a thank you note to Disney for not succumbing to the discriminatory bullying of groups like One Million Moms. “We will not stand silently while groups like One Million Moms or the American Family Foundation spread their anti-gay message,” said Christ in  statement. “A majority of American moms believe that every person has the right to love another person, same sex or not.” Outloud enterprises is also on board battling OMM and spokesperson Wendy Jackson said that “if children have questions about seeing a same-sex couple holding hands, hugging or kissing, it seems that Disney World, the happiest place on earth, would offer a perfect opportunity for parents to teach children about tolerance and acceptance.” For more on the battle, visit Facebook.com/MillionsOfMomsForLove.
