Flamingo to host Tampa Bay leather contest

The Tampa Bay Leather Club will hold its 2010 Tampa Bay Sir and Leather Boy contest on Feb. 26 and 27 at The Flamingo Resort. It will be the first contest of its kind at the new St. Petersburg LGBT destination.

The contest begins with a meet-and-greet cocktail party on Friday, Feb. 26, at 9 p.m. The opening night party is open to the public, but contestant interviews on Saturday are private.

The public portion of the contest begins on Saturday at 8 p.m. inside the resort’s Blu Room. Contest directors are Daddy Jeffrey McWhiter and Boy Woodie Barns. The emcees will be Sir Tom Maiolo, who is president of the Tampa Leather Club and Mr. Sawmill Leather 2010. The judging panel will consist of current and former leather title holders.

The Tampa Leather Club is a non-profit fraternal leatherman’s organization which promotes awareness, education and charitable fundraising activities. Most of the contributions collected by the organization are donated to the Francis House of Tampa Bay.
