There are a few things people tend to figure out about me rather quickly, whether they get to know me well or only casually.

The first is that I’m into politics. Voting is rad, even more so when it’s done in the name of equality and every vote is counted. I don’t know which genius opted to name a size of children’s blue jeans “husky,” but I do know that in the fourth grade I had to wear them. It does wonders for a kid’s self-esteem.

It was the year that my parents and I moved, resulting in a new elementary school mid-year for my husky-clad self. In hindsight, it was the best move my parents could’ve made for our family. At the time, however, I drowned my sorrows in Snapple—likely resulting in an even huskier pair of jeans by the end of the year.

Screened Out – Deadpool

We knew we were in for something twisted. In early promos last year, Deadpool said, “Crime’s the disease; meet the cure! Okay, maybe not the cure, but more like a topical ointment to reduce the swelling and itch.”

The film Deadpool delivers! (I’ll even use the rare exclamation point.) It’s likely to fill current addicts to the brim with sick, bubbly joy, as it adds a few more adherents. This gory, action-packed flick punches home the perversion – clearly a niche missing from the current pantheon of noble comic book films.

Stan Lee says Spider-Man should remain white and straight

Lee – who co-created Spider-Man as well as the X-Men, Fantastic Four and The Avengers – is the latest victim to be thrown into the spotlight because of the Sony Pictures scandal when thousands of hacked emails were released to the public.

The Iceman cometh out in new X-Men comics

Iceman, also known as Bobby Drake, is pulled out of the closet, according to leaked pages from the April 22 issue of All-New X-Men #40, by fellow X-Men, Jean Grey.
