Disabilities services company charged with anti-trans discrimination

A transgender woman has filed a discrimination complaint with the D.C. Office of Human Rights accusing the teacher in a company training class of humiliating and disparaging her in front of fellow students by addressing her as “he.”

D.C. resident Meshalia Johnson, 43, charges in her complaint filed last month that officials with RCM of Washington, Inc., which provides support services for people with intellectual disabilities, didn’t appropriately respond to her concerns about the incident, prompting her to withdraw from the training program and end her prospects for securing a job with the company.

New year, new cuts to HIV/AIDS programs. President Trump’s proposed $4.4 trillion budget for fiscal year 2019 is most prominently characterized by soaring deficits, but also calls for varying degrees of cuts to HIV/AIDS programs reminiscent of his earlier request.

Gay men, straight women hit by ‘stealthing’

A recently released study about a phenomenon in which men intentionally remove a condom during anal or vaginal sex without permission from their partner — which has become known as “stealthing” — has raised legal questions about whether the practice is a form of sexual assault.

HIV prevention experts affiliated with D.C.’s Whitman-Walker Health and the health clinic at the Los Angeles LGBT Center have also expressed alarm that nonconsensual condom removal poses a risk for the transmission of HIV and other sexually transmitted infections for gay men.
