Survey: LGBTQ people more likely to face sexual violence

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Lesbian, gay and bisexual Utah residents are more frequently victims of sexual violence than heterosexual people, according to a new Utah Department of Health survey.

About 10,000 Utah adults took the survey in 2016, answering questions such as whether they had ever been raped or if someone had ever attempted to rape them, the Salt Lake Tribune reported .

Law criminalizing online harassment may be unconstitutional

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) – Utah lawmakers say they hope a new, unique law cuts down on the expanding and increasingly troubling forms of cyber harassment by giving authorities the ability to send the online bullies to jail.

But some lawyers and a libertarian-leaning group say they are concerned with the law’s vague language, which they say could be unconstitutional and apply to innocuous, normal online behavior such as criticizing a neighbor’s choice of house paint.
