Atlanta Braves pitcher Sean Newcomb and Washington Nationals shortstop Trea Turner had several past homophobic and racist tweets resurfaced by fans July 29, overshadowing successful seasons each player was having.

Newcomb, 25, made national headlines for missing a no-hitter by one out against the Los Angeles Dodgers Sunday.

Trump tweets ban on transgender individuals in U.S. military

President Donald Trump announced via Twitter July 26 that transgender people will not be allowed to serve in the United States military.

In a string of tweets, Trump stated that he consulted with generals and military experts and that “our military must be focused on decisive and overwhelming victory and cannot be burdened with the tremendous medical costs and disruption that transgender in the military would entail.”

By now, we’ve all had a few weeks to breathe in the post-traumatic, post-Trumpian world of Tweets and nonsense. By now we’ve survived our Thanksgiving skirmishes with chest-puffed grumpy uncles and the general racists and horror shows of our particular broods. By now, we’ve even danced around the daisies of Green Party hopeful Jill Stein and her swing-state strategy of proving nothing in a recount that is not meant to benefit former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, but rather to flex her own nascent political muscle one last time. By now, we’re aware of the hell we’re facing.

There isn’t nearly enough sugar – outside of Big Sugar – to coat the results of the Nov. 8 general election and its subsequent horror of errors. In just a week or so, the Electoral College will cast the final stone, leaving us swirling in a vacuum of idiocy, most of which will be stuffed with as much acrimony as a fraudulent billionaire can afford. Donald Trump got his wish: he is king of the mountain; it’s all on him.

Liberty Counsel president tweets that she’ll bring a gun into a public bathroom as her “bodyguard”

The recent trend of anti-transgender bills requiring people to use public restrooms that align with their birth identity already has many transgender people nervous about using public bathrooms. Now, Liberty Counsel president Anita Staver has brought an actual gun into an already loaded issue.

Staver posted an inflammatory tweet in response to Target’s April 19 statement that transgender employees and customers are invited to ” use the restroom or fitting room facility that corresponds with their gender identity.”

Man faces prison time for tweeting anti-gay death threat

Paris (AP) – A Frenchman faces prison time for tweets containing an anti-gay death threat and public insults targeting a Paris city official.

Tarek Laboun, a 31 year-old engineer, is accused of posting the tweets targeting Jean-Luc Romero, an openly gay deputy mayor and AIDS activist when Romero was married in 2013. Thursday’s trial turns on issues of free speech limits online.

Former Nickelodeon Star posts controversial tweets about Caitlyn Jenner

Drake Bell, a former teen heartthrob and star of Nickelodeon’s Drake and Josh, stirred up controversy June 1 when he tweeted his opinion about Caitlyn Jenner to his over 3 million followers.

The tweet read, “Sorry….still calling you Bruce.”

Shortly after the tweet was posted, Bell deleted and replaced it with, “That’s bravery!”
