ABC has canceled “Roseanne” in response to Roseanne Barr’s racist tweet on Tuesday, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

“Roseanne’s Twitter statement is abhorrent, repugnant and inconsistent with our values, and we have decided to cancel her show,” ABC Entertainment president Channing Dungey said in a statement on Tuesday.

Israeli military’s first transgender officer criticizes Trump

The first transgender officer in the Israel Defense Force has criticized President Trump’s decision to ban trans people from the U.S. military.

Capt. Shachar Erez in a commentary that A Wider Bridge, which describes itself as an “LGBTQ advocacy group building connections between the Israeli and North American LGBTQ communities,” posted on its website on July 27 wrote “barring transgender individuals from serving their country is not a policy based on credible professional opinion.”

Sesame Street celebrates Pride with rainbow tweet

“Sesame Street is proud to support families of all shapes, sizes and colors,” the show’s account tweeted along with a photo of some different colored characters standing next to each other. The picture seems to mimic the LGBT rainbow flag.

There was not a whole lot of positive influence coming from Twitter in 2016, but one notable tweet that went out into the Twitterverse at the end of 2015 was one from St. Petesburg’s mayor Rick Kriseman in response to then presidential nominee Donald Trump calling for a ban on Muslims into the country.

“It was remarkable,” Kriseman recalls. “I never would have thought that the response would have been what it was. It was re-Tweeted I think 22,000 times and it was read more than a million times.”

Jenner tweets docu-series ‘I Am Cait’ cancelled by E! network

Trump wants to test immigrants on LGBT rights, religious liberty

JERSEY CITY, N.J. (AP) — Donald Trump will call for a new ideological test for admission to the United States Aug. 15, vetting applicants on their stance on issues like religious freedom, gender equality and LGBT rights. The policy would represent a significant shift in how the U.S. manages entry into the country.

In a speech in swing state Ohio, Trump will also call for “foreign policy realism” and an end to nation-building if elected president. And he’ll argue that the United States needs to work with anyone who shares the mission of destroying the Islamic State group and other extremist organizations, regardless of other disagreements.
