St Pete Pride announces third annual TransPride March

ST. PETERSBURG |Registration for St Pete Pride’s third annual TransPride March is now open, the organization announced March 31, also Transgender Day of Visibility.

The TransPride March was launched in 2017, leading the St Pete Pride Parade to celebrate the diverse transgender and gender-expansive community. The 2018 march exceeded 750 participants, the organization shared in a press release.

Registration for 2018’s St. Pete Pride TransPride March is now open.

The march’s hope is “to inspire all trans and gender non-conforming people to realize a world where we are safe, loved, and empowered,” St. Pete Pride’s registration announcement reads. “We invite the entire community to come out and celebrate our Trans family by being a part of St. Pete Pride.”

Pride Marches On: St. Pete Pride celebrates diversity in the ‘Burg with a year of firsts

ST. PETERSBURG – After all the controversy over the changes St. Pete Pride brought this year, it all seemed to be put aside for Pride weekend as thousands gathered along Bayshore Drive for the city’s first Pride parade downtown.

The Pride parade, the largest in the state, began with the first ever TransPride March along the parade route. More than 500 participants walked, starting from the end of the official parade route at Albert Whitted Park to the parade’s starting point at Vinoy Park, as watchers waved trans flags and shouted support to those walking.

It’s no secret that for the first time in its 15 years, the St. Pete Pride parade is moving from the Grand Central District and heading downtown, but that isn’t the only change to the schedule.

“There are always lots of events during Pride month and this is the first year that we actively went out to recruit events from all over Pinellas County,” St. Pete Pride Executive Director Eric Skains says. “We have an extensive list of events compiled from all this information we received, and they are all amazing events.”

TransPride March joins St. Pete Pride

ST. PETERSBURG – St. Pete Pride is making history again. Not only is it the largest LGBTQ Pride celebration in the state of Florida, but it is about to become the first Pride in the state to hold a TransPride March in conjunction with their annual parade.

The TransPride March will kick off St. Pete Pride’s parade and will consist of members of the transgender, gender-non-conforming, queer communities, their families, friends, allies and supporters.
