Candis Cayne tapped for ‘groundbreaking’ transgender storyline on ‘Grey’s Anatomy’

Transgender actress Candis Cayne has been cast for a multi-episode arc on “Grey’s Anatomy.”

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Cayne, who has appeared in “Transparent” and “Dirty Sexy Money,” will play a transgender patient at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital who will undergo “groundbreaking” vaginoplasty surgery.

2017 LGBTQ Pop Culture Alphabet

Jeffrey Tambor has announced his departure from “Transparent” as Amazon investigates sexual harassment allegations against the actor.

Van Barnes and Trace Lysette, both transgender actresses, have come forward with sexual misconduct allegations. While details on Barnes’ claims have not been made public, Lysette opened up about her allegations with Tambor on social media. She accuses Tambor of making sexual comments about her and for touching her inappropriately.

‘Transparent’ considering writing Jeffrey Tambor out of season five

“Transparent” writers are considering writing its star Jeffrey Tambor out of season five in the wake of Amazon’s investigation into a sexual misconduct allegation against Tambor.

Deadline reports that series creator Jill Soloway and the “Transparent” writing team are looking at options to write Maura Pfefferman (Tambor) off the show. Writers are also debating changing the title of the show.

Kentucky man, transgender wife sue Amazon for workplace bias

(AP) – A Kentucky man and his transgender wife sued Amazon on Wednesday, alleging that they endured sustained discrimination and harassment during a year as co-workers at the mammoth online retailer’s warehouse in northern Kentucky.

A lawyer working with the couple said the case is notable in part because Amazon, one of the nation’s largest corporations, has a record of strongly supporting gay and transgender rights.

‘RuPaul’s Drag Race,’ ‘Feud’ earn Emmy nominations

The 69th Primetime Emmy Awards nominations were unveiled Thursday morning with both “RuPaul’s Drag Race” and “Feud: Bette and Joan” earning nominations.

“Westworld” and “Saturday Night Live” received the most with 22 nominations each. “Feud: Bette and Joan” received a nomination for Best Limited Series and “RuPaul’s Drag Race” is a contender for Best Reality Competition Program. RuPaul is up for Best Host for a Reality or Reality-Competition Program.

‘Moonlight’ gay kiss nominated for MTV Movie & TV Award

“Moonlight” continues to rack up award show credentials with three nominations for the MTV Movie & TV Awards including Best Kiss.

The Academy Award Best Picture winner is nominated for Best Kiss for the intimate scene between actors Ashton Sanders and Jharrel Jerome as teens Chiron and Kevin. “Moonlight” was also nominated for Best American Story as the only film in the category. It will battle it out against “Transparent,” “Fresh Off the Boat,” ‘Blackish” and “Jane the Virgin.”

Cast of ‘Transparent’ releases PSA to support Gavin Grimm

The ACLU and the cast of “Transparent” have partnered together for a PSA in support of Gavin Grimm and for the inclusion of transgender rights in Title IX, which prohibits sex discrimination.

Although Grimm’s lawsuit against Gloucester High School’s school board over their refusal to allow him to use the boys’ restroom was sent back to the federal appeals court, the ACLU is encouraging people to continue to support transgender individuals.

‘Transparent’ creator among those honored for advocacy
