Police: Trans man fatally shot during argument in Atlanta

ATLANTA (AP) — Authorities say the suspects in the fatal shooting of a transgender man in Atlanta remain at large.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports 36-year-old Nino Fortson was found with multiple gunshot wounds early Sunday and died at a hospital.

LGBTQ rights lawyer immolates self in NYC in ecology protest

NEW YORK (AP) — A well-known gay rights lawyer and environmental advocate burned himself to death in New York City on Saturday in a grisly protest against ecological destruction.

The charred remains of 60-year-old David Buckel were found by passers-by in Brooklyn’s Prospect Park. Police said he was pronounced dead at about 6:30 a.m.

“Pregnant Man” pleads guilty to disorderly conduct

PHOENIX (AP) — A transgender man in Arizona who was accused of stalking his estranged wife last year pleaded guilty to one count of disorderly conduct Oct. 27.

Thomas Trace Beatie had a change of plea hearing in Maricopa County Superior Court and now is scheduled to be sentenced Nov. 16 on the misdemeanor.

Tampa teen found guilty of attempted murder of transgender man

TAMPA – Tampa teen was accused of trying to kill a member of the transgender community has been found guilty of attempted murder. Tavares Spencer was tried as an adult on charges that included attempted first-degree felony murder, attempted second-degree murder and robbery. He was found guilty on Oct. 31 for the April 9 crime.

On that date, authorities say the victim, who is legally known as Terrience McDonald, 22, agreed to meet with a teenager he knew only as “Vares.” He had met Vares a week before at a party, and the two had agreed to meet up again.
