Gay, trans candidates come up short in Massachusetts primary

Two LGBT candidates running for the Democratic nomination to represent Massachusetts’ 3rd congressional district in the U.S. House came up short Tuesday night.

Although a final winner in the primary for that 10-way race wasn’t called at the time of this posting, both LGBT candidates didn’t have enough votes to be in contention to win the nomination.

Roem defeats Marshall in Va. House of Delegates race

LAKE RIDGE, Va. — Danica Roem on Tuesday soundly defeated Virginia state Del. Bob Marshall (R-Prince William County) in a race that garnered national attention.

With 100 percent of precincts in the 13th District reporting, Roem defeated Marshall by a 54-45 percent margin.

Transgender community, authorities meet to discuss safety

NEW ORLEANS (AP)- Members of the transgender community, the New Orleans police and local officials met during a town hall discussion on transgender violence.

The New Orleans Advocate reported the Friday forum was hosted by the Trans United Fund and Transitions Louisiana.
