Police investigate Facebook threats against LGBT people

WILTON MANORS, Fla. (AP) – Law enforcement officials are investigating threats posted on Facebook to “exterminate” LGBT people living in a predominantly gay city near Fort Lauderdale.

Wilton Manors Commissioner Justin Flippen says the threat is being taken seriously by the FBI and local police.

Homeland Security set to issue new terror alert

Man faces prison time for tweeting anti-gay death threat

Paris (AP) – A Frenchman faces prison time for tweets containing an anti-gay death threat and public insults targeting a Paris city official.

Tarek Laboun, a 31 year-old engineer, is accused of posting the tweets targeting Jean-Luc Romero, an openly gay deputy mayor and AIDS activist when Romero was married in 2013. Thursday’s trial turns on issues of free speech limits online.

St. Petersburg mayor bans Donald Trump in tweet

St. Petersburg is usually a city that is accepting of anyone who wishes to visit its beautiful beaches and enjoy its diverse culture, but according to Mayor Rick Kriseman, there is one person who is not welcome.

Kriseman tweeted Dec. 7, “I am hereby barring Donald Trump from entering St. Petersburg until we fully understand the dangerous threat posed by all Trumps.”

Indiana pizza shop threatened on Twitter, coach fired

DUNLAP, Ind. – A northern Indiana school district says it has fired a coach who tweeted about burning down a pizza shop after its owners said they wouldn’t cater a gay wedding because of their religious beliefs.

Concord Community Schools Superintendent Wayne Stubbs confirmed to The Goshen News that Jessica Dooley was terminated on April 20. Dooley was the head coach of the girls golf program and also an assistant coach with the softball and girls basketball programs.
