Kid Fury and Lena Waithe are working to bring a “surreal dark comedy” focused on a gay, black man to the small screen.

Variety describes the upcoming series as a “surreal dark comedy that follows Greg, a 20-something sarcastic gay black man navigating adulthood and responsibility in New York City while struggling to wrap his head around his undiagnosed clinical depression.”

‘Love, Simon’ wins Best Kiss at MTV Movie & TV Awards

The 2018 MTV Movie & TV Awards was filled with LGBTQ representation including a Best Kiss win for “Love, Simon” and a Trailblazer Award honor given to Lena Waithe at the ceremony which aired on Monday night.

Lena Waithe made a powerful LGBTQ fashion statement at the Met Gala on Monday. Waithe, who is an out lesbian, donned a black suit with a flowing rainbow cape designed by Wes Gordon.

Her fashion statement was particularly meaningful as the Met Gala’s theme this year was “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination.”

Lena Waithe’s comedy about a queer black woman gets pilot at TBS

TBS has greenlit a pilot episode for “Twenties,” a comedy from the mind of “Master of None” star and writer, Lena Waithe.

According to Deadline, the show follows “queer black girl” Hattie and her two straight friends living their lives in Los Angeles.
