Metro Inclusive Health has announced the keynote speaker and roster of participating companies for the organization’s second annual Metro LGBTQ+ Career Fair.

Metro held its inaugural gathering in 2018, after recognizing a need for an LGBTQ-inclusive career fair in Tampa Bay. Hundreds attended to seek advice, career opportunities and expertise from leading employers from throughout the area.

ST. PETERSBURG | Thousands gathered in downtown St. Petersburg for the 17th annual St Pete Pride Parade June 22.

The celebration began with the third annual TransPride March, which drew the largest amount of participants yet. Friends, families and floats filled Bayshore Dr. to honor the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots and showcase St Pete Pride’s loudest and proudest year yet.

Local leaders, Lisa Loeb strengthen St Pete Pride

“Florida’s largest Pride celebration belongs to everyone in St. Petersburg,” St Pete Pride President Chrys Bundy says ahead of the 17th annual St Pete Pride. It’s the result of year-round dedication from LGBTQ community members, advocates and allies.

That was evident with last year’s successful Sweet 16, which welcomed 250,000 attendees over Pride weekend—around 15,000 shy of St. Petersburg’s entire estimated population. It was a feat that longtime LGBTQ ally and Pride supporter St. Petersburg Mayor Rick Kriseman welcomes yet again.

TAMPA | The Tampa Bay Business Journal has announced the honorees for the 2019 Business of Pride awards, including Watermark Publishing Group Inc. which will be honored as an LGBTQ-owned company.

The annual awards, presented in partnership with the Tampa Bay Diversity Chamber of Commerce, were created to recognize individuals and companies who work to advance LGBTQ equality in the workplace. Honorees were chosen by members of the Tampa Bay Business Journal editorial team and a panel of outside advisers.

Five Florida companies receive perfect scores for LGBT equality

Washington, D.C. – Five Florida companies top the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) 2014 Corporate Equality Index, which ranks Fortune 1000 companies on their broad commitment to LGBT equality.

Tech Data Corporation in Clearwater, Carlton Fields law firm in Tampa and Darden Restaurants Inc. in Orlando all scored a perfect 100. Rounding out the list of perfect scores for Florida companies are Blue Cross Blue Shield of Florida Inc. in Jacksonville and Office Depot Inc. in Boca Raton.
