‘Saturday Night Live’ lampoons CNN town hall on LGBTQ issues

NBC’s “Saturday Night Live” satirized CNN’s LGBT forum for Democratic presidential candidates Thursday in the comedy show’s opening sketch over the weekend.

Cast members Chris Redd impersonated Cory Booker, Colin Jost played Pete Buttigieg, Kate McKinnon impersonated Elizabeth Warren and Alex Moffat played Anderson Cooper. Guest host Lin-Manuel Miranda impersonated Julian Castro and special guest Woody Harrelson played Joseph Biden.

Paul Rudd portrays ‘boring gay man’ Pete Buttigieg on ‘SNL’

Paul Rudd parodied 2020 Democratic presidential hopeful and South Bend Indiana Mayor Pete Buttigieg on the season finale of “Saturday Night Live.”

The skit had Buttigieg (Rudd) appear as a guest on “The View.” Whoopi Goldberg (Leslie Jones), Megan McCain (Aidy Byrant), Joy Behar (Kate McKinnon), Abby Huntsman (Cecily Strong) and Ana Navarro (Melissa Villasenor) welcome Buttigieg who they immediately don’t take seriously.

“Saturday Night Live” mocked the Jussie Smollett case in a skit starring host and ‘Killing Eve” star Sandra Oh as Smollett’s manager.

The skit titled “Network Meeting” starts off with Oh trying to keep Smollett’s (Chris Redd) job on “Empire” in a meeting with show runner Lee Daniels (Kenan Thompson) and Fox executives (Mikey Day, Kate McKinnon and Ego Nwodim).

Don Cheadle shows support for transgender children during ‘Saturday Night Live’

Oscar-nominated actor (and Marvel Avenger) Don Cheadle made a strong political statement without uttering a word during his hosting gig on “Saturday Night Live” Feb. 16.

Chris Kelly becomes first openly gay head writer for ‘Saturday Night Live’

NBC confirms that comedy writers Chris Kelly and Sarah Schneider have been promoted to head writers of Saturday Night Live‘s 42nd season.

Kelly and Schneider both joined the writing staff of SNL in 2011 and have been responsible for some of the shows most recent viral hits including “The Beygency,” the Emmy-nominated “(Do It On My) Twin Bed” and “Bar Talk” featuring Kate McKinnon as Hillary Clinton and the real life presidential nominee as bartender Val.
