The Seniors First Turkey Trot 5k

The Seniors First Turkey Trot 5k is one of the oldest and largest 5k fun runs held in Orlando each year.  Over 5,000 runners, walkers and spectators, many in holiday themed costumes, will line the streets around beautiful Lake Eola bright and early Thanksgiving morning in a race to end senior hunger.  Be there at 7am for the costume and turkey call contests, join friends and family for the race at 8am, then stay for the kids Tot Trot!  All proceeds benefit in home care and nutrition programs Like Meals on Wheels and go directly to help senior citizens in our community.

The Center to host HIV and aging awareness event

Orlando – This year will be the first time the Florida Department of Health in Orange County will help raise awareness about National HIV/AIDS and Aging Awareness Day (NHAAAD) by holding an event in Orlando. The Department of Health will be partnering with The Center, Central Florida AIDS Planning Consortium and the community to educate Central Florida about HIV and aging.

The Sept. 18 event is free and will take place at The Center. There will be rapid HIV testing, flu shots, blood pressure screenings and educational resources at the disposal for attendees.
