The first official trailer for “Disobedience” showcases a passionate but forbidden love affair between two women.

The film follows Orthodox Jewish woman, Ronit (Rachel Weisz) as she returns home to her deeply religious community after her father’s death. Upon her return she finds herself attracted to her cousin’s wife Esti (Rachel McAdams). Ronit and Esti begin a secret affair while Esti’s husband Dovid (Alessandro Nivola) becomes suspicious of Ronit’s intentions.

Transgender themed film ‘A Fantastic Woman’ director celebrates Golden Globe nod

NEW YORK (AP) — Director Sebastian Lelio feels that “A Fantastic Woman” has gone beyond the cinematic experience with its social message, to a great extent thanks to the performance of its star, Daniela Vega.

The film follows Marina, a transgender woman who, after the passing of her older lover, is mistreated by his family and the police officers investigating his death. It is Chile’s selection for the Academy Awards and on Monday was nominated for a Golden Globe Award in the best foreign film category.

‘A Fantastic Woman’ could lead to trans history at Oscars

TORONTO (AP) – A transgender Chilean actress has turned in one of the most buzzed-about performances of the year and some are hoping she could be the first trans actor to land an Oscar nomination.

Daniela Vega, 28, stars in Sebastian Lelio’s “A Fantastic Woman.” She plays Marina, a transgender woman whose partner (Francisco Reyes) dies, after which Marina is subjected to harsh treatment by the family of her deceased lover and by police investing the death.
