Embattled Puerto Rico Gov. Ricardo Rosselló on July 24 announced his resignation.

Rosselló in his long awaited speech from La Fortaleza, his official residence, noted his efforts to support LGBT Puerto Ricans as among his administration’s accomplishments. Rosselló said his resignation will be effective as of Aug. 2 at 5 p.m.

LGBT ally Kacey Musgraves wins big at queer-dominated Grammys

Country singer Kacey Musgraves won the coveted Album of the Year award for her album “Golden Hour” marking the end of a Grammys award show filled with plenty of queer women representation.

Musgraves, who also won Country Album of the Year, has emerged as an LGBTQ ally in the country music world. She has spoken up for more LGBTQ inclusion in country music and her song “Follow Your Arrow” was hailed as a pro-LGBTQ anthem. Musgraves also served as judge on “RuPaul’s Drag Race” Musgraves also took home Best Country Solo Performance (“Butterflies”), and Best Country Song (“Space Cowboy”) Awards for a total of four winning categories.

SAGUA LA GRANDE, Cuba — A growing number of Cuban internet users are using YouTube to document LGBTI life and issues on the Communist island.

Nelson Julio Álvarez Mairata, who lives in Sagua la Grande, a small city on Cuba’s north central coast that is located roughly three hours east of Havana, launched his YouTube channel, Nexy J Show, in 2016.

The 70th Primetime Emmy Award nominations were announced July 12.

After 18 years of leading the pack with the most nominations, HBO —which received 108 — was unseated by Netflix with its 112 nominations. Among those 112 nominations include one for the “Queer Eye” reboot for Best Structured Reality Program, “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt’s” Tituss Burgess for Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series and “Grace and Frankie’s” Lily Tomlin for Best Lead Actress in a Comedy Series.

Britney Spears ‘broke’ the GLAAD Media Awards

Britney Spears was honored with the Vanguard Award at the 29th annual GLAAD Media Awards at the Beverly Hilton Hotel on Thursday but her appearance caused a stir.

Spears, who attended the ceremony with her boyfriend Sam Asghari, was recognized for promoting LGBTQ acceptance and equality. Jennifer Lopez, Cher, Antonio Banderas and Demi Lovato are among the award’s past recipients.

Gianni Versace’s family calls FX series ‘fiction,’ network responds

Family members of the late Gianni Versace have slammed FX’s “The Assassination of Gianni Versace,” the “American Crime Story” installment about the fashion designer’s murder, calling it a “work of fiction” and claiming they had no involvement in the making of the series.

“The Versace family has neither authorized nor had any involvement whatsoever in the forthcoming TV series about the death of Mr. Gianni Versace,” the family said in a statement. “Since Versace did not authorize the book on which it is partly based nor has it taken part in the writing of the screenplay, this TV series should only be considered as a work of fiction.”
