The most popular accessory among park visitors this year were the rainbow Mickey Mouse ears introduced to the Disney parks in April.

Orlando to create rainbow crosswalk near Pulse

ORLANDO | A permanent rainbow crosswalk near the site of Pulse has been approved by the Florida Department of Transportation and the City of Orlando.

The crosswalk will be on West Esther St. off South Orange Ave. going from Pulse to the Dunkin’ Donuts located across the street.

Kesha makes strident statement with new album ‘Rainbow’

It’s been a long road back for Kesha and it’s easy to understand why she chose the symbolism of the “Rainbow” as the title for her first album in five years.

The California-based pop singer found fame with hit singles like “Right Round” (with Flo Rida), “Tik Tol,” “Take it Off,” “We R Who We R” and “Die Young.” But messy dueling lawsuits between the singer and producer/svengali Dr. Luke sidelined her for what felt like an eternity in pop music.

Sesame Street showed its support for families of all types in a tweet that appears to be a nod to the LGBT rainbow flag.

“Sesame Street is proud to support families of all shapes, sizes and colors,” the show’s account tweeted along with a photo of some different colored characters standing next to each other. The picture seems to mimic the LGBT rainbow flag.

McDonald’s is celebrating Pride with the LGBT community by selling limited edition rainbow fry boxes at locations following the Capital Pride Parade route from June 9 through June 11.

WTOP reports the boxes will be sold while supplies last at the 1944 14th Street N.W., 1619 17th Street N.W. and 1916 M Street N.W. locations.

Petition seeks rainbow crosswalks on 17th Street in DC

A gay member of the Dupont Circle Advisory Neighborhood Commission on April 5 posted an online petition calling on Mayor Muriel Bowser to arrange for the installation of rainbow colored crosswalks on a section of 17th Street, N.W. where several gay bars and restaurants are located.

Randy Downs, who lives on the section of 17th Street where he hopes the rainbow crosswalks will be placed, states in his Change.org petition that they would “instill a sense of community” and “advance the awareness of the diversity and equality through public art and community outreach.”

6 months later, 49 killed at Pulse are remembered

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) – Relatives, friends and survivors of the Orlando nightclub massacre stood outside Pulse where candles were lit behind stars with the names of each of the 49 patrons who were killed.

They hugged each other outside the shuttered gay club in the early morning hours Monday to mark the six-month anniversary of the massacre.

The crowds turned out for a day of LGBTQ fun and sun as they celebrated Volusia Pride at Old Fork Park in New Smyrna Beach Saturday, Oct. 22.

Dozens of tents and vendors were set up in the park as the attendees shopped, mingled and watched entertainment from local LGBTQ teen dancers, Central Florida Sounds of Freedom, Becky Brabham and the Orlando Gay Chorus.

NBA releases new line of rainbow team shirts for Pride Month

On June 7, shirt producer Teespring began selling a series of shirts with rainbow-colored logos on them for each of the 30 NBA teams. The line is the result of a collaboration between the NBA, GLSEN, and Teespring. The proceeds from sales of the shirts will be donated to GLSEN.
