Tampa Bay drag queen star Natasha Richards dies at 44

Renowned Tampa Bay drag performer Natasha Richards, who lit up every stage she stepped on, died Dec. 2.

The Clearwater-based performer won dozens of titles in local and national drag pageants, including Miss National 2003 and Miss Gay USofA 1996.

Mercedes Successful was found shot to death in the back parking lot of a Big Lots and Tractor Supply Co. in Haines City May 15. She was 32 years old. Successful identified as a transgender woman.

Successful was a performer and a native of Kingston, Jamaica. She moved to Haines City by way of New York. She represented Jamaica in the 2014 Gay Caribbean USA pageant, shown on the pageant’s Facebook page wearing a Jamaican flag dress and high-heeled black boots.

Lily Tomlin first openly gay performer to receive SAG Life Achievement Award

Life in prison for man who murdered Tampa drag performer

Tampa – Deandre Tolliver was sentenced to life in prison for the murder of well-known Hamburger Mary’s drag performer Anthony Lee at the Hillsborough County Circuit Court July 22.

Tolliver chose not to speak after Judge Kimberly Fernandez delivered the sentence.

Man found guilty of manslaughter of local transgender woman

Orlando – The man responsible for the murder of Ashley Sinclair, a popular local performer, has been found guilty of manslaughter. A jury delivered Kent Louis’ verdict Dec. 12.

Sinclair,who was also known as Mohagany Shylanda Singleton, was shot and killed in April 2013.The 30-year-old transgender woman’s body was found in a wooded area off of Nimrod Lane early in the morningon April 4, 2013.

Dario could double attendance at Sarasota Pride
