This World AIDS Day, we recognize the significant progress that has been made in the fight against HIV/AIDS. But we are not done.

Stand in unity and join us to honor World AIDS Day 2017. Since its inception in 1988, December 1st is a day for communities to come together and remember those who have passed, educate those at risk, and stand in solidarity with those living with HIV/AIDS.

Seattle City Council bans ‘conversion therapy’ for LGBT youth

SEATTLE (AP) — The Seattle City Council has unanimously passed an ordinance to bar the practice of “conversion therapy” to try to make young LGBT people straight.

The measure proposed by Councilmember M. Lorena González passed unanimously August 1.

Brevard County School Board passes LGBT non-discrimination policy

The Brevard County School Board voted 3-2 to adopt a new non-discrimination policy at all Brevard County public schools that would include protections based on sexual orientation and gender identity on July 19.

School board members Andy Ziegler, Amy Kneessy and Misty Belford voted to pass the non-discrimination measure, while members John Craig and Karen Henderson opposed adding in the protections.

Washington House passes ban on ‘conversion therapy’

Olympia, Wash. (AP) — The state House of Representatives has passed a bill to ban therapy intended to convert gay teenagers to heterosexuality.

In a 60-37 vote supported by all House Democrats and a handful of Republicans, the House on April 9 amended a unanimously-passed Senate bill that bans aversion therapy on minors to cover therapy that tries to alter sexual orientation.
