ORLANDO | The Parliament House hosted Babes in Bonnets, an Easter holiday tradition that raises funds for the Orlando Youth Alliance (OYA), at the Footlight Theatre in Orlando April 15.

The fundraiser, which was started 21 years ago by the legendary drag queen Carmella Marcella Garcia, brought in $32,000 for OYA programs and services.

OYA in the running to be Lucky’s Market Orlando 1st quarter fundraising recipient

ORLANDO | Lucky’s Market is a supermarket chain not only with a focus on organic foods but also a focus on giving back to its local community. Bags of Change, a fundraiser organized by the supermarket chain, helps three local nonprofits to raise some much needed funds each quarter.

Each one of Lucky’s Market locations nominate five nonprofits and its customers vote on which three will be the fundraising recipients, and Lucky’s Market Orlando selected the Orlando Youth Alliance as one of the five nominees for its first quarter. Now it is up to you to make OYA one of the top three.

Babes in Bonnets, an annual fundraiser event benefiting the Orlando Youth Alliance (OYA), is back for its 20th anniversary at the Parliament House Footlight Theatre March 26.

The event, hosted this year again by Ms. Darcel Stevens and Blue Star, was originally created 20 years ago by the legendary drag performer Carmella Marcella Garcia.

Babes in Bonnets sets fundraising record for OYA

The Parliament House Footlight Theatre was home again to the fabulous bonnet auction known as Babes in Bonnets April 10.

The annual Easter tradition, hosted by Darcel Stevens and Blue Star, is a community wide fundraiser to benefit the Orlando Youth Alliance and featured more than a dozen beautiful bonnets paired with amazing gifts and prizes donated by local businesses and organizations.

Orlando debuts Youth Empowerment Summit

Orlando – For the first time ever, Orlando City Hall will host a youth empowerment event targeted at LGBTs.

The Central Florida Youth Empowerment Summit will run from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 1. The free event is presented by The Gay, Lesbian, & Straight Education Network along with Orlando Youth Alliance (OYA) and Parents, Families, and Friends of Lesbians and Gays.

Orlando Youth Alliance coming to Lake County

Taveres – The Orlando Youth Alliance (OYA) is branching out into (conservative) Lake County.

The OYA is a community group that provides counseling, support and a safe social outlet for anyone between the ages of 13 and 24 in the LGBTQ community. There are currently chapters in Orlando, Lakeland, and Seminole.
