NYC gay hotelier criticizes protesters over Ted Cruz dinner

NEW YORK (AP) — An owner of a gay-oriented New York City hotel lashed out at “extremists” who have urged a boycott over a dinner invitation to Sen. Ted Cruz, a vocal opponent of same-sex marriage.

But gay-rights advocates outraged by the invitation to the Republican presidential candidate say they will keep up the pressure by shunning all the properties owned by the men who hosted the dinner.

Gay real estate developer apologizes for hosting Ted Cruz event

A gay real estate developer is apologizing for hosting presidential hopeful, and same-sex marriage opponent, Ted Cruz at an event in his home on April 22.

Ian Reisner, and his business partner Mati Weiderpass, had Cruz, his wife and a dozen friends to their Central Park penthouse for dinner and a “fireside chat”. During the evening, Cruz is said to have softened his anti-gay stance claiming that if one of his daughters were gay, he would “love them just as much.”
