Washington State becomes 11th to ban ‘ex-gay’ conversion therapy

Washington State Gov. Jay Inslee signed into law on Thursday a ban on “ex-gay” conversion therapy, making the Evergreen State the eleventh in the nation to prohibit the widely discredited practice for youth.

Inslee signed the measure, SB 5722, at a ceremony in Olympia, Wash., making it illegal for licensed mental health therapists in engage in conversion therapy for individuals under the age of 18.

Two students seek $1 million in racial, sexual orientation discrimination lawsuit

OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) – Two students have filed a discrimination lawsuit against The Evergreen State College and its former women’s basketball coach Jennifer Schooler.

A complaint for damages was filed by ShaMarica Scott and Linda Wilson, both of Olympia, on Oct. 13 in U.S District Court’s Western Washington district in Tacoma, The Olympian reported.
