Weinstein Company wins battle for PG-13 rating for ‘3 Generations’

The Weinstein Company has won its battle against the MPAA to change its transgender coming-of-age film “3 Generations” from an R rating to PG-13, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The MPAA originally gave the film an R rating due to profanity and sexual references. The Weinstein Company agreed to edit the film, “mainly for language,” in order for youth to have access to the film.

Screened Out – The Divergent Series: Allegiant

In the beginning, Woodley’s character Tris says, “We’re going to be okay” just before the feces hits the fan.

Woodley’s career has also hit the fan, especially after she signed up for this watered down YA science fiction with too many special effects and a wimpy story. This third installment of four in the Divergent series is the absolute worst – action sequences and clunky voice-overs giving way to slow, confusing speeches about genetic purity.

There’s nothing pure about Allegiant. It’s all chewed up and crapped out ideas from better books and movies.

Screened Out – Birdman

Birdman is weird and wonderful, the most inventively constructed film of the year. It’s fearless filmmaking at its best.

Yet people will rush to scream, “Don’t tell us how it’s made!” Some filmgoers never want to contemplate the brilliant mechanics behind their entertainment; they believe that analyzing takes them out of the story, the magic. Well, the genius, mesmerizing and hilarious Birdman proves them all wrong. It’s strange stuff, and the architecture is enchanting.
