Ellen DeGeneres makes list of most admired women in world

The queen of daytime talk, Ellen DeGeneres is among the 10 most admired women in the world according to Gallup.

The annual poll, released Dec. 27, asks Americans to name the man and woman living anywhere in the world today whom they admire most. DeGeneres, who came in eighth, is the only LGBTQ person to appear on either of the lists for 2018.

Trump asserts support for LGBT equality in Log Cabin letter

Despite a first year of an administration marked by anti-LGBT policies, President Trump expressed support equality for LGBT people in a letter recently unveiled by Log Cabin Republicans.

The letter, dated Dec. 21 and made public this week by the LGBT Republican group, is signed by Trump and congratulates the organization on its 40th anniversary.

Gauthier Destenay, the husband of Luxembourg’s prime minister Xavier Bettel, caused a buzz on social media when he appeared alongside other spouses of world leaders at the NATO summit in Brussels.

Finland same-sex marriage law takes effect

A law that extends marriage and adoption rights to same-sex couples in Finland took effect on Wednesday.

Members of Finland’s Parliament approved a same-sex marriage bill — which also extended adoption rights to gay and lesbian couples — in 2014.
