“Mary Poppins Returns” director Rob Marshall would love to include the LGBT rights movement in the third “Mary Poppins” film.

Marshall, who is gay, told the Advocate if he had his way the next “Mary Poppins” film would tackle LGBT rights.

New Zealand shopping center displays ‘gender-busting’ Santa

A shopping center in Auckland, New Zealand put their own twist on Santa Claus with a “gender-busting” statue.

Ponsonby Central introduced “Santa Poppins,” Santa dressed as Mary Poppins, for the holiday season. Santa dons a red robe and fishnet stockings and is holding Poppins’ magical carpet bag and umbrella.

It was the momentous meeting of two magical personalities Walt Disney and Mary Poppins author P.L. Travers. He’d already changed the face of family entertainment forever, and he wanted to add her beloved children’s book to his pantheon of movie successes. He’d courted her for 18 years; she always said no. Then they met in 1961, and she said yes.

It took a fortnight of convincing, but she gave permission, and Disney made one of the most revered family films of all times, a winner of five Academy Awards.
