Ben Johansen of Embellish fx Orlando was sainted by the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence in a surprise ceremony during Project Nunway at the Parliament House on March 20.

The Sister’s cited his professional generosity and donating of his time and talent as they presented him with a certificate of sainthood.

Queen of Versailles judges pageant at Parliament House

Parliament House played host to the Mr. and Miss All-star Continental Pageant among cameras following Orlando’s Queen of Versailles, Jackie Siegel, as they filmed for her upcoming reality show.

Darcel Stevens and Sassy Devine emceed as the contestants competed in categories scoring in best talent, swimsuit and evening wear. Siegel was on hand as one of the judges.

All this recent talk of WAVE Awards has had me thinking. First of all, you can’t really say “WAVE Awards” because the “A” in the word WAVE stands for “Award(s).” So when you say “WAVE Awards,” what you are actually saying is, “Watermark’s Awards For Variety and Excellence Awards.” That’s one “Awards” too many.

To take it one step further if you say “Watermark’s WAVE Awards,” what you’re actually saying is Watermark’s Watermark’s Awards for Variety and Excellence Awards.”

Equality Florida raises $350K at 2015 Tampa Gala

Tampa – More than 600 supporters of Equality Florida packed TPepin’s Hospitality Center for the organization’s annual Tampa Gala Feb. 21. As organizers continued to calculate the night’s success, it was determined that more than $350,000 was raised for the LGBT organization.

It was a celebratory night and speakers discussed the changes brought about within one year—specifically marriage equality. But the message of the night was clear—there is still a lot more work to do.

Grand opening of Gilt Nightclub’s THRIVE Thursdays

The newly opened Gilt Nightclub celebrated its grand opening of THRIVE Thursday on Feb. 5. DJ/Producer Twisted Dee spun great jams throughout the night, with an open bar till midnight.

Gilt, which used to go by Roxy Nightclub, will now host its THRIVE Thursday alternative night every Thursday.

Gasparilla Pirate Festival 2015

Estimates placed 700,000 people along the parade route for the 100th Gasparilla Pirate Festival in Tampa on Jan. 31.

Among the revelers were many LGBTs and allies, including Mayor Bob Buckhorn, Tampa Police Chief Jane Castor and State Representative Kathy Castor.

The annual Red & Green party returned to the popular venue and this year and simulated snow gave it an extra special holiday feel.

Pride in Concert: AJR and Meghan Trainor

A part of the XL 106.7’s Pride in Concert Series, Meghan Trainor and AJR took to the stage Oct. 8 at The Abbey near Lake Eola as a part of the week long of events for COWP.

Trainor performed her hit “All About That Bass,” while interacting with the crowd for her set.

AJR took to the stage to open up for her, even jamming on a ukulele at one point. The group is most known for their single “I’m Ready,” which samples a part from the hit television show Spongebob Squarepants on the song.

With Come Out With Pride events well underway, one of the events that helped jump start a week of celebrating 10 years of pride was OUT & About at K Restaurant. Owner Chef Kevin Fonzo prepared a four-course meal for an evening of fine dining at the award-winning K Restaurant.

With wine pairing — selections provided by Rex Goliath — and entertainment for the event, it was definitely a fun-filled evening to toast to.
